Android, the NRA, and the 1st Ammendment

Yup it’s a nice chimera post of different subjects all rolled into one.

Let’s talk about Android. Come on why not?

All the geeks are doing it right

Look I just don’t get the whole Android thing. To me every Android phone I have looked at has just felt wrong, but then I am rather happy with my iPhone. This about sums it up for me:

If your main argument for Androids superiority is “It’s OPEN!” and to get that “openness” you have to “root and flash to froyo” then its not really open for 99% of the Android buying public. You can’t really expect most people to even know what that means, let alone understand how or be willing to do it.

Speaking of the NRA.

I have had a few people ask we why I am moving away from the NRA and supporting other Gun Rights Organizations.

It’s really pretty simple. It’s the same reason I don’t support the ACLU.

The Constitution and the Bill of Rights are an all or nothing document for me. Either you support it all or you support none of it.

Thhe NRA came out as having no objection to the extremely objectionable DISCLOSE Act. The NRA’s stance on the DISCLOSE Act?

It does not apply to us so we don’t care if it passes.

Now the NRA has tried to RETCON this to say the were always against the bill. In my opinion the reality is the NRA was looking to make themselves the only “Gun Rights” game in town. The only thing that kept it from happen was a revolt by the rank and file of the NRA.

In all honesty this is nothing new. People and organizations are always looking to wield the hammer of government to their advantage. I just don’t want to be a part of that wherever possible.

And finally we get to the 1st Amendment.

It amazes me the number of people in this country that have never read, let alone understand our Constitution.  Sadly it takes someone from another country to point out something pretty damn obvious.

I thought this was something that was taught to most Jr High or High School kids? Is it really that hard to understand?

The Constitution and especially the Bill of Rights are designed to protect you from the GOVERNMENT. They are not rights that you can use to suppress another persons rights.

Come on people screeching “1st Amendment! 1st Amendment! You are restricting my 1st Amendment rights!” just shows how ignorant you are.
